SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Sandy Springs Police Benevolent Fund (SSPBF) will now be accepting applications for the 2021/2022 school year. The scholarship program has been set up to assist children of the Sandy Springs Police Department, the Sandy Springs Fire Department and ChatComm employees. The scholarship will be awarded to applicants who have completed their freshman year of college/university. The SSPBF will award scholarships in the total amount of $8,000 each school year, with no applicant receiving more than a $1,000 scholarship. The total amount of scholarship awarded to each applicant is dependent upon the number of applications received each year. The application deadline is Friday, May 28th, 2021 and the awards will be issued prior to the start of the fall semester.
The application package must consist: a completed application form; a statement of purpose essay written by the applicant; a copy of the applicant’s transcript for the prior year and two letters of recommendation, please see full details below:
Criteria for awarding of SSPBF scholarships:
- Recipient must be:
- A child of a Sandy Springs Police Department employee, a Sandy Springs Fire Department employee or a ChatComm employee;
- Attending a 2 or 4 year accredited college/university, to include a technical college or trade school.
- Recipient must:
- Complete the application form;
- Provide an Academic Resume/Transcript for prior year;
- Submit a Statement of Purpose Essay (500 words, typed, double spaced, Times New Roman/12 pt. font);
- Submit two letters of recommendation. Letters should be from persons such as school counselor, teacher, law enforcement officer, neighbor, etc.
- Scholarships will be awarded to students who have completed their freshman year of college/university.
- Amount of scholarship awarded will be determined upon number of applications received.
- Applicants are only eligible to receive the scholarship one time.
